Stories behind the lens — the unwilling detour

This is me standing on some rocks, somewhere on the shore.

This was when we had just entered the point from where the Seven Sisters Cliff will make themselves visible. We were supposed to keep tracing the greens, keeping a few feet distance from the white edges, and to follow the blue. But we took a detour and walked an extra hour to reach this very point, into the sea.

Was it so far that it took an extra hour?

Not really. But we had to leave the trodden paths and walk alongside the rocky ways. It was also slippery at points and one of us injured her hands. Walking carefully, to and fro added to the time.

Why did we take this not-so-well-trodden path?

We don’t know. One of our friends went ahead — he was the most adventurous and his fitness was one level ahead of the rest (talking about fitness, I’d be the last one in the group). We kept following him and went deeper into the sea. Thankfully it was early in the morning and was low tide time, else the rocks I’m standing on would be submerged into water, and maybe me.

Was this part slightly under the sea worth chasing for?

Who cares! It was closer to the sea, and that’s what matters. So what if it was providing the exact same view as the land a couple of hundred meters behind!

Rajat kept yelling “Why are you guys even going there?”, “Let’s go there by the proper beach and relax”, but we kept walking. Because we could. We had the time, so why not!

Looking back, this was the first instance that screamed “We will break the rules. And we will take the paths without knowing where it’s leading just for the sake of it!”

But this detour did show us a good picture of what’s about to come. The Seven Sisters lay upright in front of us. And we had to keep walking 🙂

The same pebbled path. Pebbles give a nice closer to nature feel but are a real pain when walking over.
Vicky getting clicked in the exact same position. He sure knows how to pose for a picture 😉
